来月から博士号の留学生が僕の研究室に来る。その彼の面倒を見るのが僕なのだが、その研究計画を今日決め終わった。まあ半年だけだし彼の研究なので結構適当に決められた。それでも後輩からは細かいねと言われた。僕って自分が思うより細部まで気が回るのかもしれないと思った。
また、新しく僕が担当することになった装置の調子が悪く、カスタマーセンタに電話した。原因はいたって簡単で、真空計が経年劣化で使えなくなっただけだった。しかし、真空度が高い装置の真空計の交換は想像より難しいだろうと思う。僕は見積書を依頼するだけで役目を終えた。
夜は、飲みに行った。久しぶりに新橋に行った。ビールの値段が上がっていたので、日本酒を飲んだ。結果、結構酔ってしまった。だけど飲みたい友達と飲めたし、いい具合に会話に入れたと思うし、良い飲み会だった。
A doctoral student from abroad will be joined our laboratory, and I’ll be the one taking care of him. Today, I finished making a rough plan for his research. Since his stay is only for half a year, and it’s his own research, I decided on thing quickly. But my junior pointed out that I had actually desided most of the details. Maybe, I will be able to think through things more thoroughly than I expected.
Also, the equipment I’m in charge of starterd having issues, so I called the costomer support center. The couse was sinple, the vaccum gauge was too old and needed to be replaced. However, since it is a high vaccume level system, replacing the gauge will be a difficult work. My job for now was just to ask them to issude an invoice.
At night, I went to a drinking party. It had been a while since I went to shinbashi. Beer prices have gone up, so I drank sake instead. In the end, I drank quite a lot. But I got to drink with someone I really wanted to, and I was able to join on the conversations. It was a really great night.
